Synaptics has always been quick to pick up the latest innovation in the multitouch space -- whether its own functionality, or something Apple's brewed up. This latest innovation is squarely in the latter category, with new ClickPad trackpads offering that love-it-or-hate-it buttonless design of the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros (pictured). Synaptics is targeting the new pads at netbooks, which many manufacturers have had trouble fitting regular clickers onto. ClickPads work with Synaptic's latest…
iPhoneDocked tweeted that he was asked to 'purchase' an app while trying to redownload it. Other developers have also reported similar behavior on iPhone OS 3.0 beta, while trying to redownload apps. Redownloading iPhone apps is a very common practice among iPhone users, I have deleted and redownloaded iPhone apps...
GyPSii brings GPS-fueled social networking to the iPhone, but do we really need to sign up for yet another network?Any effective social-network connoisseur will already have a bevy of accounts to frequently check. Aside from the regulars — Facebook, Twitter, and so on — there’s already a stack of networks I’ve tried and duly abandoned, [...] Related Posts GigaOM: Facebook Friends the iPhone, Apps Will Now Connect GigaOM: Imeem’s iPhone App Competes With Apple on Its Own Hardware TheAppleBlog:…
Filed under: Software , iPhone , App Store , iPod touch , First Look , App Review There's one big problem with being a TUAW blogger -- we are constantly tempted away from doing real work when developers tell us about new and fun software to try out. That's exactly the problem I ran into when Fishing Cactus asked us to review Equilibrio (click opens iTunes), their new ball puzzle game for iPhone and iPod touch. The app, which is also available for Nintendo Wii, is an addictive game in which you…
If it's true, the 4GB iPhone is a bit of a surprise, since users need more storage space to accommodate many tempting apps for the iPhone. We are certainly expecting 32GB model right now (and we have had 8GB and 16GB for a long time), but 4GB? Engadget reports that a source has told it that [...]

Apple started pushing out their official iTunes 8.2 for mobile devices with firmware 3.0 recently. But the Dev-Team recommended you --jailbreakers and yellowsn0w-users-- to ignore the "Update now?" button. Why? Most people aren’t at 3.0. In fact 3.0 is still in beta and has lots of bugs (especially related to push updates).

What do you get when you mix a little Geometry Wars with Asteroids? Apparently the answer to that question is Circuit Strike.One. Chillingo along with developer h.grenade have provided us with a final build of Circuit Strike. One (or CS.One), and from our short time with the game, we are definitely hooked.

I’ve already mentioned recently – when reviewing Trivial Pursuit for iPhone – that I like trivia, and trivia-based games. I also am not against beer. Not at all. When I lived in the UK I was always very fond of a good pub quiz. [...]

An anonymous tipster just confirmed to us that the Pre iTunes sync continues to work with iTunes 8.2 (as it did with iTunes 8.2 beta for the iPhone 3.0 beta). The reader says that there's no worry (yet) that Apple's locking out the phone, and that iTunes continues to recognize the Pre as an iPod. These fears were brought up in response to the speculation that Apple would try to block the Pre from using iTunes as its native desktop software for organizing music on the Pre. Without Apple's…
The PSPgo is Sony's newest handheld gaming system, and it's got more than a bit in common with the iPhone or iPod touch (no touchscreen, though).

We talked about 4, 8, 16 and 32GB models for the iPhone 3G Summer 2009 line before, and now BGR is pointing at a new $99 iPhone 4GB with iChat AV . They claim that this image comes from an allegedly leaked Fido network presentation. According to their source, the Canadian network provider will sell a three-year contract $99 iPhone with 4GB, Quadband GSM, HSDPA 850/1900/2100, 2.0MP camera, and video calling via iChat. The slide actually says that the image is "not the actual product." While I have…

Filed under: iPhone , App Store , App Review There is no shortage of ringtone solutions for getting tones onto the iPhone, especially after Apple opened up the phone enough to allow user generated ringtones without buying them from the iTunes store. Now there is a bit of a new twist on the ringtone creation game. Ringtone Recorder Pro [App Store] allows you to use your iPhone as a recorder to get any sounds you can capture into your iPhone. It's US$0.99. The method is, frankly, a bit convoluted. You…
Apple, along with a number of other large companies, has been sued in a Texas court by a company claiming that the Apple, iTunes, and App Stores violate its e-commerce patents. Actus, LCC filed a 28-page complaint against Apple, Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, and others, claiming that they infringe on its patents—Nos. 7,328,189, 7,249,099, 7,376,621 and 7,177,838—which cover an online payment method. The patents describe a…
